syslog not archiving

Hi,

I have syslog-ng installed,
but it is not rotating the logs.
After a month the log files are getting big...

Syslog is only used to let the system (and applications) log to files.

If you want to archive them you need logrotate

This can be installed on gentoo:

emerge -q app-admin/logrotate

or debian/ubuntu

apt-get install logrotate

after the install you can tun it immediately by:

/usr/sbin/logrotate 

But mostly it is run by cron,
you should find the file /etc/cron.daily/logrotate

The config files are:
/etc/logrotate.conf
/etc/logrotate.d/*
